New Product Development
Product Study and Gap Analysis
We conduct a product study to understand the gap between existing product features and features to be incorporated to make the product more competitive. Next, we prepare a market requirement document to be used by the product management group to conceptualize, design and develop the product. We also assist the client in making strategic decisions on whether to buy or make parts or products through ROI/ NPV assessment.
Requirement Gathering and Market study
Following step 1, a market study is made to identify potential customer's needs. The requirement gathering and mapping process is designed for the entire product life cycle. Our DFSS (design for six sigma) methodology for capturing customer design requirements is the most significant added value we bring to our customer's product development initiative.
Product Conceptualization
Here, we focus on obtaining the Proof-of-concept. We do an extensive research on the features and benefits that the product should offer and understand whether the product can be developed in a cost effective and time bound manner or not. Once done, we build our proof-of-concept and verify by means of a basic prototype.
Design & Development
On successfully testing the prototype under simulated conditions, we work on the various modules of the final design, independently testing each module along the way. Here, hardware and firmware optimization takes precedence .
Testing & Certification
The Pass 1 batch of boards is put through a rigorous testing process comprising functionality, compatibility, multi-tier, regression, interoperability testing and Performance Testing.
Requisite certifications- CE Marking, EMI/EMC Test (EN61000-4 Series), LVD and EMC Directive, UL, CSA, FM, TUV, NEMA/IP, ATEX, CB Scheme are obtained for the production boards.

Value Engineering (VE)
At Oaces, VE involves studying a customer's existing products and exploring various possibilities of reducing cost without affecting the quality and performance and also adding value to the product. Our VE services are divided into four segments:
Component engineering (CE) - We help the client in supplier and component selection and qualification, BOM analysis, purchasing, specification creation and maintenance and component application engineering
First time right design - Seemingly minor mistakes during the initial design phase can blow up into major problems at a later stage and this can result not only in an increase in cost but also in an overshoot of the project deadline. We, at Oaces, avoid this situation by early risk identification, assessment and mitigation.
Design verification - We review, test and determine whether the design output meets the design input requirements. For this purpose, we use HDL simulators, accelerator boards and 3rd party software to speed simulation and debug entire designs, or specific modules
Agency approval / certification - Oaces helps the client in certifying their products according to all the major certification standards of the world .
RoHS/WEEE Consultancy
Oaces provides services to Electronic Equipment Producers, Contract Manufacturers and component suppliers presented with environmental compliance challenges. The obsolescence/ RoHS study is basically divided into five phases.

Phase 1
In the first phase, information about the product is collected in the form of schematics, BOM and other documents. Critical design issues are studied.
Phase 2
Here, we identify parts that are required to be changed since they may not meet the existing RoHS guidelines. We prepare a list of alternate parts considering electrical parameters, pin layout etc.
Phase 3
After concluding phase 2, we analyze the impact of replacing these parts with the alternates. The entire design is reviewed again.
Phase 4
Analysis for RoHS Compliance Issues- In this phase, the new design is reviewed again for compliance with RoHS standards. If any issue is found, the entire process is repeated again till the desired result is obtained
Phase 5
Finally, we generate documents for the reviewed product. This includes:
A new BOM
RoHS compliance documentation
Product redesign documentation
Obsolescence Management Back To Top
Obsolescence mitigation often plays second fiddle to the more important task of new product introduction and related R&D. We, at Oaces, giving due importance to Obsolescence management, undertake the following risk mitigation activities :
Last-time buys/ Life-time buys : We investigate PCNs for their validity and impact on the existing design.
Part changes and subsequent design modifications : Based on our obsolescence investigation, we recommend alternate parts or design modifications and test the modified design.
Obsolescence monitoring: We help our customers in inventory tracking for obsolescence issues, enabling them to focus on new product development tasks.
Reliability Prediction Consultancy & Aanalysis
Our team of engineers can effectively compute the MTTF for products and provide their inputs during the design and development phases to improve MTTF numbers. The tools used are Relex 7.7 Reliability Prediction software based on MIL-271 and other similar software.
Verification & Validation
The Oaces team works in coordination with the client's product development team for offering Quality Assurance (QA) and testing services. This includes developing a QA strategy and plan, creating test plans & test cases, setting up artificial test environments, EMI / EMC / environmental test compliances and overall setup.
Our Suite of Services Include
Hardware testing: Functional, mechanical, environmental testing
Software Testing : Independent software testing and verification
Test Automation: We have a well-defined test automation process in line with the testing process . We possess the hardware, software and mechanical skills to address any type of automated testing need. Our software test automation tool kit includes Rational Robot, Win runner and Silk test. In hardware, we have vast experience in designing test jigs for diverse product applications.
Product Certification
We have the necessary know how for UL, CSA. FM, TUV, NEMA/IP, ATEX & CB Scheme safety certifications. Regulatory compliance testing is conducted for CE Marking & EMI/EMC tests
Supply Chain Management
We render support in Supply Chain issues through low volume manufacturing. We have a 36,000 sq ft state- of- the- art infrastructure for manufacturing and assembly operations powered by highly trained and qualified technical personnel.
